March 2022

(i) Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Dar es Salaam in association with Noopur School of Dance organized ‘Vande Bharatam – Classical dance tribute to Unity and Integrity of India’ on 5 March 2022 at SVCC premises. The event was organized to celebrate 75 years of Indian Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav) and EkBharatShreshtha Bharat (United India Great India) campaign. High Commissioner of India to Tanzania Binaya Srikanta Pradhan inaugurated the event.

Dancers from Noopur School mesmerized the audience with their classical performances. Rev. Ilukpitiye Pannasekhara Thero of Tanzania - Buddhist Temple & Meditation Centre and Chief Monk for Buddhism for African continent and prominent leaders of Indian diaspora and members attended the event.

 


(ii)International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2022 in association with Ladies wing of Patel Samaj in Dar es Salaam. Mrs. Monalisa Shuvadarshini, spouse of High Commissioner of India inaugurated the event.

 

(iii)Virtual narration on 'Salt Satyagraha - The power of non violent action' by globally acclaimed Gandhian, Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna was live streamed on High Commission's You Tube channel on 12th March 2022 at 10 am to commemorate 92nd anniversary of Salt Satyagraha or Dandi March led by Mahatma Gandhi.

(iv)High Commission of India in association with Swarnganga Tanzania celebrated 'Holi' at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam on 20th March 2022. Members of the Indian diaspora and Tanzanian citizens joined the festivities.

 

April 2022

(i) Utkal Dibas was celebrated on 2nd April 2022 in association with Odia Samaj of Dar es Salaam at High Commission of India. The celebration was inaugurated by High Commissioner Binaya Srikanta Pradhan by lighting of the lamps.

 

 

(ii)72nd Foundation day of ICCR was celebrated at the High Commission on 9th April 2022. Deputy Minister of Culture H.E. Pauline Philipo Gekul was the Chief Guest. About 60 ICCR alumni who studied in different universities in India attended the event.

 

(iii)On occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar on 14th April 2022, a documentary 'Mookanayak' depicting his life was live streamed on the Facebook page of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC).

 

(iv)High Commission organized a magic show by famous magician Ravi Raval from Gujarat on 22nd April 2022. Students from different schools in Dar es Salaam were invited to attend the event.

 

May 2022

(i) Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam arranged online screening of the documentary on Rabindranath Tagore on 9 May 2022 to celebrate his 161st Birth Anniversary.
(ii) High Commission of India in association with Curators Safina S. Kimbokota and Neviindie organised an Art exhibition on the theme ''Celebration of Motherhood'' from 13 to 17 May 2022 at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Dar es Salaam. More than 36 local artists including students of Creative Art department of University of Dar es Salaam showcased their art works of paintings, installations, metal embossing, photography and poetry at the exhibition.

May 2022

(iii) Mission in association with Tanzania Kabaddi Sports Association organized India Tanzania Kabaddi Friendship Meet on 22 May 2022 at SVCC campus. Four men's team and two women's team participated in the Kabaddi meet.

June 2022

(i) The High Commission of India celebrated 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY 2022) on 19 June 2022 at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports H.E. Pauline Gekul was the Chief Guest at the event. Over 3000 yoga enthusiasts from different walks of life including approximately 2000 Tanzanian school children participated in the event.

(ii)High Commission of India in association with Dar Indian Women Association organized a dance competition at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Dar es Salaam on 25 June 2022. 11 Indian and Tanzanian teams participated in the event.

(iii)A 4 days Workshop by famous Indian painter Mr. Narendar Reddy was organised at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam from 27 to 30 June 2022. 20 local artists participated in the workshop.
