March 2023

(i) High Commission celebrated International Women's Day at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) on 5 March 2023 by organizing 'An Evening of Ghazals'. Tanzanian nationals, diaspora members and students learning classical music at SVCC participated.

(ii) High Commission in association with Swarnganga-Tanzania celebrated Holi on 12 March 2023. Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports Dr. Pindi Chana graced the event as the Chief Guest. She conveyed Holi greetings and spoke about the Indian philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. Members of Indian diaspora, friends of India in Tanzania and diplomats from foreign missions participated in large numbers.

(iii) As part of the celebrations of International Year of Millets, High Commission along with Indian community in Tanzania virtually joined the inaugural session of Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 18 March 2023. Special meals prepared from millets was arranged for the attendees.

(iv) High Commission in association with Tanzania Kabaddi Sports Association organized a Kabaddi tournament to celebrate the World Kabaddi Day on 25 March 2023. Mr. Said Yakubu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Arts & Sports of Tanzania graced the event as the Chief Guest. Local schools Kingani Secondary, High View Secondary and sports club Buffalo Dar es Salaam, Kaole Bagamoyo competed against each other with Kaole & Buffalo emerging as winners in Men and Women's category.

April 2023

(i) Odia Samaj Dar es Salaam in association with the High Commission celebrated Utkal Diwas/Odisha foundation day on 1st April 2023.

(ii) ICCR Foundation Day was celebrated on 9 April 2023 at SVCC with a morning Yoga Session. Yoga enthusiasts from Tanzania, Norway and Greece were a part of the session. In the evening, SVCC organized a cultural programme to mark the occasion.

(iii) On occasion of World Art Day on 15 April 2023, a 'Dot Mandala Art Workshop' was organised at SVCC. Local Tanzanian artists, members of Indian diaspora and art enthusiasts of different nationalities participated.

(iv) Over hundred members of Indian diaspora attended the live broadcast of 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on 30 April 2023 organized at Chancery.

May 2023

(i) High Commission celebrated International Museum Day on 18 May 2023 with National Museum of Tanzania at the Village Museum in Dar es Salaam. Chief Guest, Counsellor (HOC) Mr. Manoj Verma planted an Ebony tree sapling as a symbol of peace and friendship between India and Tanzania along with Dr. Noel Biseko Lwoga, Director General of National Museum of Tanzania. This was followed by traditional dance and music performances by local artists and teachers of Indian culture at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre. Around 150 school children participated in a number of activities like painting, planting saplings and preparing traditional food 'Ugali' from millets.

(ii) Carnatic Music recital by artists Mrs. Ramadevi Iyer and Mrs. Chitra Jayatheerthan was organised at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre on 20 May 2023.

(iii) A workshop on Vedic Mathematics for children by Ms. Vandana Gupta was organized at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre on 21 May 2023.

(iv) High Commission in association with Bango Sango celebrated Rabindra Jayanti on 26 May 2023 at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre. Participants read out poetry and sang songs by Rabindranath Tagore. Swahili poet Mr. Kahima Fimbo read out Swahili translation of the poem 'The Child' by Rabindranath Tagore.
