External Affairs Minister (EAM) of India H.E. Dr. S Jaishankar visited United Republic of Tanzania from 5-8 July 2023.
EAM was warmly welcomed by Minister of Tourism & Heritage of Zanzibar H.E. Simai Mohammed Said on arrival in Zanzibar on 5th July 2023. . .

EAM met President of Zanzibar H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. They witnessed signing of MoU for setting up of IIT Madras campus in Zanzibar.

 



EAM attended a deck reception onboard Indian Naval Ship Trishul along with the President of Zanzibar. The reception was attended by senior leadership of Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces, elite members of government organization, business community including the diplomatic community in Tanzania.

 

EAM together with Minister of Water of Zanzibar visited one of the water project site in Zanzibar at Kidutani being built with Indian assistance.

 

 

EAM visited Stone Town in Zanzibar and experienced its distinctive Gujarat connection. He also visited Arya Samaj and Shri Shiv Shakti mandirs in Stonetown.

 

 

EAM addressed the Indian diaspora at a public event at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre on 6th July 2023.

 

 

EAM called on President of Tanzania Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at State House in Dar es Salaam on 8th July 2023.

 

 

EAM co-chaired India-Tanzania Joint Commission Meeting on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation H.E. Dr. Stergomena Tax on 8th July 2023. Both parties reviewed the progress of the entire gamut of bilateral relations and exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues of interest.

 

 

EAM met members of India Tanzania Parliamentary Friendship Group.

 

 

EAM visited Commonwealth War Memorial in Dar es Salaam and paid his respects to Indian soldiers who laid their lives during World War I by laying a wreath.

 

 

EAM was joined by Minister of Water H.E. Jumaa Hamidu Aweso during the visit to a completed water project at Kibamba where he interacted with the beneficiaries.

 

 

EAM took a walk through Dar es Salaam's famous Temple Street and experienced the local flavors there.

 

 

EAM addressed the India-Tanzania business meet.

 

 

EAM visited India-Tanzania Centre of Excellence in ICT at Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology housing Indian supercomputer Param.

 

 

EAM unveiled the bust of Swami Vivekananda at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam; met members of Tanzanian alumni of Indian institutes.
