November 2022

(i) High Commission of India in association with Kalakendra and Patel Samaj organized a Unity Run in Arusha on 6th November 2022 to celebrate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Indian diaspora and friends of India participated in large numbers.

December 2022

(i) Mrs Monalisa Shuvadarshini, spouse of High Commissioner Binaya Srikanta Pradhan curated a unique event with the Diplomatic Spouses Association celebrating Indian culture, cuisine & traditional Saris from different states of India. Guests had a delightful time learning to drape Saris in different styles.

(ii) Mission organized a cultural event on 24 December 2022 to celebrate birth anniversary of singer Mohammed Rafi. Tanzanian and Indians students participated in the event.

(iii)Mission celebrated birthday anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal B Vajpayee on 25 December 2022.

(iv)Mission celebrated Veer Baal Diwas on 26 December with a digital exhibition and screening of film Chaar Sahibzades at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Dar es Salaam.

January 2023

(i) High Commission celebrated National Youth Day in association Indian organization Bango Sango at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre on 12 January 2023. On the occasion, a painting of Swami Vivekananda by Tanzanian artist Mr. Niyas was unveiled by the High Commissioner; a film on Swamiji's life was screenedand the students from The Indian School, Dar es Salaam and Tanzanian Children from Mbagala performed a short play.

(ii) On 16 January 2023, High Commission celebrated World Hindi Diwas with Tanzanian students learning Hindi at Swami Vivekananda Cultural CentrePrime Minister of India’s message on Hindi Diwas was read out followed by Hindi poetry recitation and other cultural programs.


(iii) High Commission celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India at Chancery on 26 January 2023. The flag unfurling ceremony was attended by a large gathering of Indian diaspora and friends of India in Tanzania. The iconic Tanzanite bridge and the Chancery building was lit in Indian tricolor.


High Commission hosted an evening reception dinner attended by dignitaries including Ambassadors of foreign Missions, senior Tanzanian government officials, prominent members of the Indian diaspora. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk was the Chief Guest. A special supplement on Republic Day was brought out on the occasion by The Guardian.

 

(iv) High Commission live streamed a lecture by Dr Shobhana Radhakrishna on 'Mahatma Gandhi's Quest in the Service of Humanity' on occasion of Martyr's Day on 30 January 2023.

 

February 2023


(i) On 4 February 2023, a Yoga Workshop was conducted for Tanzania Medical Students Association at Kampala International University by Mr. Sumit Kumar, Teacher of Indian Culture (Yoga), SVCC Dar es Salaam.


(ii) A 2-day Tabla Workshop was conducted for students of Tumaini University in Arusha on 5-6 February, 2023 by Mr. Surojato Roy, Teacher of Indian Culture (Tabla), SVCC Dar es Salaam.
